The Chinatown Unplugged was born out of an event named Bye Bye Chinatown, a street photography event the visually documented the disappearance of heritage buildings and communities due to rapid urban development. To help raise awareness, Michael from bangkokvanguards designed a walking tour that takes you deeper into the areas and communities that are trying to preserving their roots while also embracing the future. This tour is not designed with main-tourist sights in mind but rather to understand the past, present and future of Chinatown as well as the stories and aspirations of one of Bangkok’s last authentic neighborhoods.
