This unique Bangkok day trip is a slow-life journey to the local fishing communities along the coastal areas near Bangkok. We will visit some of the largest wet-markets in Thailand, ride the country's slowest train, visit the famous train market in Maeklong and help local initiatives fighting coastal erosion by restoring their mangrove forests. On top we enjoy fresh Thai food, experience coastal ecology and embark our local wakeboarding skills with fishermen. If you are planning a different Bangkok day trip into the nature and aren't afraid to get muddy, then the Coastline Adventures is your perfect date.

To anyone passing through Bangkok, I recommend staying at INNSPIRE. Nestled in a quiet passage of a historical art quarters, right next to the water channel in city centre (3mins to Kao San). Clean rooms fairly priced, ample communal working space and a tasty breakfast. The best part are the hosts with an international background. They will take you for a bike ride to hidden parts of town and will provide an intellectual discourse into Thai culture and local dynamics. A place where digital nomads and thinkers discuss bright ideas and common interests. Definitely top of my list for SE Asian city accommodation.
I felt like I was a part of the everyday life of a vibrant, energetic, and cosmopolitan city. Where most tours look at an aspect of a culture, this tour allows its participants to be part of the culture
As most city guides show only what the tourists want to see, a specialist is the answer.
Just got back from a Nightride with Bop and we're amazed! Areas and corners in Bangkok we would have neither dared to venture into nor would we have found it. Next time again!
Best Tour ever! We did the night drive with bikes and it was really amazing. Private and customizied tour with a nice guide. You will see parts of Bangkok that no tourist knows. And if you wish you can get a German guide.
Woohoo! What a ride!! Besides exploring all the hidden treasures, we had a lot of fun and inspiring talks with interesting people. I’ve been to many places in Bangkok, but this was definitely one of the best nights I had so far in this awesome city.
Suffice to say the scenery was stunning, we travelled through wonderful quiet roads and tracks. Chatted to locals, stopped off at local farmers, snacks and breaks whenever you want, finished up back at the base camp. This tour really is a wonderful day. This is a relatively small organisation trying, and in my experience successfully delivering high quality experiences which offer good value for money. If you want something a bit different groups like the vanguards really should be one of your key places to go.
Throught Bangkok at night on a bike is an experience you won't forget. You'll see places outside the tourist attractions and you'll get a very different impression and view on Bangkok. Nachts mit dem Fahrrad durch Bangkok ist einfach ein unvergessliches Erlebnis. I can only strongly recommend this tour to any visitor to Bangkok who wants to see something other than crowded temples and shopping malls
Vanguard: Unsurpassed Guides to Thailand! Having experienced Thailand travel extensively over the past twenty-five years and seen virtually everything, my wife encouraged an outing with Vanguards. With that said, we were not disappointed and quite frankly blown away by both the tours and conscientiousness of our guides.
“Take the time to spend a day with Vanguard, its a day to remember”
Off the beaten track. Not your common standard sightseeing tour. More appropriately described as an uncommon "experience". An atypical adventure that's perfect for visitors/tourists looking to venture beyond the obvious, to go deeper into the social fabric of this exotic metropolis with a new-found friend & guide. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Impressive Insights and Amazing Places. I did the one-day Back2Basics tour with my parents and still can't get over my amazement. We have been to many breath-taking places such as seafood and floating markets, temples and hidden resorts, cities and landscapes - both crowded and empty.
Bangkok Vanguards Rock! Any country / city is about its people, the culture, the rich traditions, the lifestyles, cooking styles - it is indeed much more than all of the top tourist attractions that you get to see. And Bangkok Vanguards showed us what the city and its people were truly about.
Definitely the tour to take in Bangkok. It's pretty rare for something on Tripadvisor to have only 5 star ratings, Bangkok Vanguards has achieved this and deserves every single one of them!
We did the Bangkok360 tour with Michael. We saw more in one day than we saw for the other 3 days in Bangkok. It is by far the best tour I've ever done but it is not for the meek. You need a high level of stamina to keep up for the entire day in the Bangkok heat. You do experience Bangkok to the fullest though
“Best tour in our trip to Thailand. As others say, "An experience"”
The reviews they've been getting are almost suspiciously good, but we gave them a try and loved it. This is a small (2-3 guides with a few freelancers) organization. Both the main guides have German background for those of you who might care.
This tour is highly recommended if you like tours with that personal touch ,small group, very helpful and friendly staff throughout the process of booking .really enjoyed our day would have done the 360 tour as well but run out of time.
“Great for first timers and Bangkok veterans”
We saw the true Bangkok, (the behind the tourist traps - where people live, work and eat). We worshipped with several religions and were given true insight into the culture and politics of Bangkok
BEST TOUR ANYWHERE --- EVER!!!!!! When looking for a tour guide of Bangkok, STOP and, BOOK BANGKOK VANQUARDS. THIS IS THE ONE!!
We really loved their passion for the environment and resolving local issues.
Michael and his team are wonderful. They give everything to show you Bangkok that you will have impressions of a life-time, with full success. It was simply grand! Were were able to accompany them on two tours and had a fantastic time. Who doesn’t book here, misses out on something unique. Thank you very much bangkokvanguards
Well, all I can say is, awesome. We did the Starters tour today with Mu. It was great. We had high expectations due to the TripAdvisor reviews, and the tour fit the bill.
It's hard core, rough and sweaty - but well worth it because it's unlike any other and gives you the real pulse of Bangkok.
If you're an explorer and don't mind the walk, I can't say this enough - Bangkok Vanguards really know how to please!
We were eight, including the guide and we were all greatly impressed. Michael has taken us up-close to “his city” and was able to convince us that Bangkok is indeed something really special. I think without this tour we would have seen Bangkok through different eyes and probably wouldn’t have been as enthusiastic
We saw more of Bangkok than a tourist would see in a week. Micheal and his staff were outstanding guides, We ate lots of amazing local foods along the way and our guides helped us connect to the local people facilitating discussions and answering all our questions. The tour was very interactive and high energy.
I have been to Bangkok many times and seen all of the sites. This tour lets you see the real Bangkok - from eating in peoples homes to sitting in a Buddhist ceremony. I love Bangkok and this tour made me love it even more.
We have done many tours all over the world. If you want something different away from the normal tourist trail to see the real life and meet Thai people please use this company
We have done many tours all over the world. If you want something different away from the normal tourist trail to see the real life and meet Thai people please use this company. Last year we did the 360 tour around Bangkok city, this year the two day bike tour staying overnight... amazing!! Can't wait to come back next year and see where the team will take us...thank you ... so memorable!
Not only the small intimate groups but the whole vibe before, during and after the tour give you the feeling you’re traveling around with friends
Prepare yourself to fall in love with Bangkok, big times!
Vanguard are positioning themselves as the small group unique off the beaten track specialists and from my experience this is fully justified.
If you want to see the real Bangkok, "local" style than this is the best possible way for you to do it.
It's been said in most reviews, but AGAIN, this is not a "tour"! That word does no justice in describing the experience.
“Not a Tour, an Experience”
“I'd give this 6 stars if I could”
“Very different, meaningful - outstanding”
"First of all, this is not your regular 'tour'. This is basically not a tour. This is one of the only ways to see the true Bangkok - the local Bangkok."
