The river basin project is to connect Bangkok with our home province Samut Songkhram and thus connecting the Chao Phraya river with the Tha Chin and Maeklong river basins through three hinterland routes.
The idea began when Michael interviewed his 96 year old grandmother about her experiences trading coconuts between Samut Songkhram and Bangkok using boats. We want to trace her journey and explore what is left of the old world, to understand the aspirations of local communities in preserving their heritage along these historic routes.
Together with conservationists, farmers and local communities we seek to craft slow-travel experiences to tell their stories and to redistribute tourism income to the areas where it’s needed the most.
